Found...

I found God on my deck.  I promise I'm not crazy, I'm linking up today and you can read more about "Found" on one my favorite blogs Beautifully Rooted.   So lately I have been challenging myself to "Find" God everyday.  As I said I "Found" Him on my deck...

Around here the seasons are changing and with them our little man.  This spring he is a little bit older, a little bit taller, a little more grown up.  It's hard to grasp the fact that time isn't going to slow down and our baby boy won't be a baby for long.  Life has been so busy lately, so many changes, so many things to get in the way of dedicated time with just me and my little man.  So when I saw him standing at the screen door, looking intently at the leaves blowing around, I knew this was a moment I wasn't going to get back.  I slid the door open and out he ran...
Without hesitation he began running around the deck, laughing hysterically as he made circles around me, as if he was playing his own little version of duck, duck, goose...
Pausing momentarily in a curious stare over all the little creatures flying around him or the noise the deck would make when he stomped his feet...
He wasn't worried about missing his favorite cartoon, playing with his favorite toy, what he would eat for lunch, if the house was clean or the laundry was folded.  He simply enjoyed all the little wonders God put around him...
And the only thing he asked of me was my time and attention.  It wasn't in the words he said, but in those eyes and the toothy smile.  It was the way he lit up like a Christmas tree when I ran circles with him.  It was that infectious little laugh when I would chase him from corner to corner...
It was in the way he would take a break just to sit in my lap and talk about the birdies or the kitty that lives next door...
He just wanted me!  In those moment's, on that deck, I "Found" God.  He used the most precious gift He has ever given to me to remind me just how precious I am to Him.  How He longs too for nothing more than time with me.  He reminded me that He doesn't want my clean house, my folded laundry or my next pinterest project, He just wants me!  He reminded me of Matthew 6:26:

Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?

I am worth so much to Him!  He reminded me I need to slow down and not feel like I need to accomplish everything, just enjoy the little moments running around on a deck.

So run we did, the dishes and laundry will always be there later.

Blessings!

Pinterest Project - Our house rules...

This weekend I tackled ALOT of projects including our gallery wall, moving our newly refurbed buffet into place and making a set of house rules.  I had seen these on pinterest and chose a few that I REALLY liked.  I mixed them together and ended up with one for our home and let me say I L-O-V-E it!
I also found this print out on one of my favorite blogs, Beautifully Rooted, and knew it needed to find a place in our home...
So both are hangin out in between our dining room and our living room.  Eventually I would like to paint our house rules on a big board to hang in the dining room, it will be a good reminder at dinner each night as our little man grows.
Blessings!

Scripture Frame...

Normally you would find all my DIY projects on my craft blog, however due to reasons I am completely unaware of, my craft blog has completely disappeared.  While I attempt to locate said missing blog, you can catch all my craft, cooking, refurbing, repurposing and creativity here.

Now that we got that out of the way, back to the blog at hand:

One of my favorite decorated rooms in our house would have to be our main bathroom.  I have had the decor the same for years because I truly love the colors, flow and feel.  But this past week I noticed a blaring empty spot.  Since the decor was originally set for our seminary apartment, and our currently rental is a good deal larger, the dreaded "empty spot" was bound to happen.
Does that just bother you as much as it does me?  The poor "J" seem's so lonesome all by it self.  After a short period of contemplation I decided I would really like to have a scripture memory board in the empty spot.  In order to make the memory board I needed to be sure I used items I had on hand and those items needed to match the current pictures I had originally made when I decorated the bathroom (shown below).

After hunting through the craft room I found a picture frame with glass I had purchased from a yard sale for .50 cents.  The frame was a dark dark cherry wood, but after a bit of spray paint and a little smudging to antique it, I ended up with this:

OOOO, AHHHH so pretty!  After a short period of admiring I pulled out the fabric I had used when I made the bird pictures above.  I cut out a coordinating piece and attached it to cardboard with fabric glue.
You can see the original frame color as I decided not to waist paint on the back.  Once the fabric was attached, I assembled the frame and added a scripture with a dry erase marker.
I L-O-V-E my little scripture frame and once it took its place in the empty spot I was down right giddy!

The camera didn't quite pick up the white (booo for bad yellow lighting!), but it does stand out very well!  The best part, I found a pack of dry erase markers, 6 total, at staples for $1!  I love the fact that I will be able to change the scripture each week to match what we are studying.

So how about you, have you made anything fun this week?
